HUR equipment is used for teaching and versatile R&D programs – as well as for wellness.
Over its 40-year history, the University of British Columbia (UBC) Physical Therapy program has established itself as a leader in physical therapy education and research in Canada. The Department of Physical Therapy at UBC has a strong and vibrant research environment.
HUR equipment will be, for example, used in the following research programs at the Physical Therapy Department. Exercise and Chronic Disease: Research interests are focused on the role of physical activity in the prevention and rehabilitation of chronic disease, particularly cancer.
In terms of rehabilitation from cancer treatment and cancer survivors, the research has focused on examining the benefits of physical activity on physical function, quality of life, fatigue and lymphedema, and is interested in starting to examine the emerging evidence forthe role of physical activity in lowering risk of cancer recurrence.

Earlier this type of training is regarded as dangerous for the cardiac patients, however, the research showed that it is safe and effective to do this kind of training if the training is properly prescribed and operated. Since Cardiac is related with many types of life style disease, its prevention will save the medical and insurance cost.

Equipment: Leg Extension Curl Rehab, Abduction Adduction Rehab, Performance RecorderComparison of Balance and Some Other Physical Characteristics between Elderly Fallers and Non-Fallers (2008) Frank Borg, Gerd Laxåback, Magnus Björkgren
Research Description: Inadvertent falls to the ground or the floor during standing, rising or walking pose considerable risks to the elderly because of the considerable probability of bone fractures and other traumas. It is therefore of interest to screen people which might have an elevated risk of falling in order to be able to provide preventive measures, such as balance, agility and muscle strength training, or making the living safer. This paper reports a retrospective study on differences between groups of elderly "fallers" (F) and "non-fallers" (NF). HUR Falls Prevention Concept is developed by this research group.

The Colmers School and Sports College in the UK joins schools like The Specialist Sport Colleges Lode Heath in Sollihhull, Caterham High School in Ilford, The Royal School for the Deaf and The Linden Lodge School for the Blind in Wimbledon, in an ever-growing list of Schools and Colleges around the UK to install HUR equipment.
Like many schools, the fitness facility at Colmers has to meet several requirements. Curriculum support and use for its own 1,100 students and staff, plus its 12 secondary and 35 primary school partners, as well as community use in the evenings and at weekends.
“We needed kit that was easy, safe and quick to use that would accommodate classes of 25–30 and the circuit format proved ideal for that”, says Darryl Bunn, Director of Sport
